sometimes the effort of seeking inspiration works out–inspiration arrives when i need it: recently Joan Didion’s essay “On Going Home” appeared just when i needed it most. other times inspiration pops up whenever and wherever, not when i am ready or looking. i watched Beautiful Losers for the first time this weekend while traveling & it reminded me of feeling inspired by Margaret Kilgallen, Thomas Campbell and Barry McGee’s work–remembering first seeing it on the streets of san francisco & hearing friends talk about it.
lately i’m seeking inspiration. i’m open to it, calling out the muse. watching the documentary reminded me–inspired me by memories of inspiration.
just before the holiday break, the east coast had a visit from a lovely snow storm. much of what i heard on the news about it was the storm’s impact on holiday shopping.
we invited friends over for our first ever taco night on the east coast the night of the blizzard. a delicious & cozy success, owing to the snow storm. a lovely dinner guest made the video posted above from our living room window, looking down onto the intersection where we would throw snowballs later after dinner.
